Position: Management Trainee (Technical) - 400 Nos
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND GENERAL INFORMATION
Candidates are requested to carefully go through the eligibility criteria mentioned below before applying Online:
Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in any of the following disciplines:
i) Mechanical/Production
ii) Electrical
iii) Metallurgy
iv) Chemical
v) Electronics & Telecommunications
vi) Instrumentation
vii) Civil or
viii) Ceramics
from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 65% marks in aggregate of all years/semesters (50% in aggregate for SC/ST candidates).
Candidates in the final year of Engineering can also apply. However, their candidature will be subject to their passing the prescribed qualification by July 1, 2007 with the specified percentage of marks. No extension beyond this date will be given under any circumstances.
AGE : Born not earlier than November 1, 1976 (Upper age limit of 30 years is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, by 3 years for OBC candidates and by 10 years for Physically Handicapped candidates). Those domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir from 1/1/80 to 31/12/89 will be allowed 5 years relaxation in upper age limit.
Health : Should be of sound physique free from any physical defect. Medical standards stipulate minimum requirements of Weight 45 kg; Height 155 cm; Myopia and Hypermetropia, if any, not to exceed ± 4.00 in each eye and no squint and colour blindness, partial or full. Suitable relaxation in height and weight will be given to female candidates.
Selection:
Written Examination: Eligible candidates will be required to appear for objective type written examination in January, 2007 at Agartala, Allahabad, Bangalore, Baroda, Bhilai, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bokaro, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Dehradun, Delhi, Durgapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Ranchi, Rourkela, Salem, Trichy, Vijaywada and Visakhapatnam.
However, SAIL may add/delete any centre and allocate appropriate centre to the candidate.
In the written test, there will be negative marking for wrong answers, i.e. 1/4th of the allotted marks for the question will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Before registering their applications on the website the candidates should possess the following:
a) Valid e-mail ID.
b) Demand draft of Rs.500/- as examination fee for General and OBC Candidates
c) Demand draft of Rs.150/- as processing fee for SC/ST& PH candidates. SC/ST & PH candidates are required to submit a self-attested copy of Caste/Disability certificate alongwith Demand Draft.
Non-refundable Demand Draft should be made in favour of “STEEL AUTHORITY OF INDIA LIMITED” payable at State Bank of India, Service Branch (Code No. 7687), New Delhi. No other financial instrument is acceptable.
The online registration site would be open from 28th November, 2006 to 12th December, 2006. All correspondence with candidates shall be done through e-mail only. All information regarding examination schedule/admit card/interview call letters etc. shall be provided through email. Responsibility of receiving, downloading and printing of admit card shall be of the candidate. SAIL will not be responsible for any loss of email sent, due to invalid/wrong email ID provided by the candidate.
After applying online, candidate is required to download the system generated Registration Slip with unique registration number and other essential details with space for passport size photograph & signature. In order to save the data entered, applicants should click on the “save” button and then print the Registration Slip. The Original Registration Slip, Demand Draft with name duly written on the back of DD and a self-attested copy of Caste/Physically Handicapped certificate (for reserved category only) is to be sent, by ORDINARY POST (since post bag do not accept Registered Posts) to Steel Authority of India Limited, Post Bag No. 10, Lodhi Road Post Office, New Delhi -110003, so as to reach latest by 25th December, 2006. Candidates should take special care NOT to staple the demand draft. Candidate may use steel pin (if required).
General Instructions :
• The courses offered by Autonomous Institutions should be equivalent to the relevant courses approved/recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/UGC/AICTE.
• Wherever CGPA/OGPA or letter grade in a degree is awarded, equivalent percentage of marks should be indicated in the application (online) as per norms adopted by University/ Institute.
• Candidates employed in Govt. departments / PSUs / Autonomous Bodies will have to produce NOC at the time of interview.
• Candidates appearing in the final year of qualifying examination may also apply.
• No request for change of examination centre shall be entertained. However, SAIL reserves the right to cancel or add any centre depending on the response in that area/centre.
• Registration slips should not have any enclosure except the Demand Draft and SC/ST/OBC/PH certificate as applicable.
• Demand Drafts payable at locations other than Delhi/New Delhi will not be accepted. MO/PO or any other mode of payment is not acceptable. SAIL shall not be responsible for any postal delay/loss in transit. No request in this regard will be entertained.
• Only original registration slip with Bar Code (no photocopy) shall be accepted. In case of any overwriting or tampering of Registration slip, the candidature of the candidate shall be rejected.
• Candidates should retain a photocopy of their Demand Draft and Registration Slip for future reference.
• The candidature of those candidates whose Registration slips are received with more than one Demand Draft and/or photocopies of Registration slip/Demand Draft will be rejected.
• Court of jurisdiction for any dispute will be at Delhi.
